Vion Series IP Video Gateway Appliances

The Matrox Vion Series is a range of compact appliances that function as multi-protocol IP video gateways, bridging SDI, HDMI, and network video formats within live broadcast and production IP workflows. The Vion EX includes 12G-SDI and HDMI 2.0 physical I/O alongside IP connectivity, while the Vion NX provides a more compact form factor with HDMI preview output and 1/2.5GbE RJ45 network connectivity. Both support encoding, decoding, and transcoding across H.264, H.265, JPEG XS, and NDI simultaneously.

Cross-format conversion — translating between NDI, H.264, H.265, and JPEG XS on a single appliance — makes the Vion Series useful in hybrid facilities transitioning from SDI to IP or integrating NDI production tools with SMPTE ST 2110 infrastructure. 10-bit 4:2:2 and 4:4:4 colour depth is supported for broadcast-grade fidelity on the Vion EX. The compact appliance form factors require no rack space for smaller deployments and can be rackmounted using the compatible Matrox rack mount kit when required.

Multi-Protocol Gateway

Converts between H.264, H.265, JPEG XS, and NDI on a single appliance, bridging production tools and infrastructure that use different IP video standards without additional conversion hardware.

SDI and HDMI Physical I/O (Vion EX)

The Vion EX provides 12G-SDI and HDMI 2.0 physical connections alongside IP network ports, bridging traditional baseband formats directly with IP media networks.

10-Bit 4:2:2 and 4:4:4 Colour

Supports broadcast-grade 10-bit colour depth in both 4:2:2 and 4:4:4 sampling, preserving colour accuracy through gateway encode, decode, and transcode operations.

Compact Appliance Form Factor

Both Vion models are purpose-built compact appliances requiring minimal physical space, with rack mounting available via the optional Matrox rack mount kit.
